US Labor Department joins Mexican Consulate in Los Angeles to mark Labor Rights Week Aug. 27-31
Kickoff ceremony to take place Monday, Aug. 27, at consulate
LOS ANGELES -- The U.S. Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division and its Occupational Safety and Health Administration will join the Mexican Consulate in Los Angeles to mark Labor Rights Week with a series of activities and events Aug. 27-31. The theme for this year is “Protecting Labor Rights is Everyone’s Responsibility.”
Ruben Rosalez, regional administrator of the Wage and Hour Division, and Ken Atha, regional administrator of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, will participate in a kickoff event at the Mexican Consulate in Los Angeles on Monday morning.
Throughout the week, Labor Department staff will provide compliance assistance materials, answer questions and take complaints. Staff also will participate in a live labor rights telethon with Univision at the network’s Los Angeles affiliate studios on Tuesday, Aug. 28, from 5 a.m.–8 a.m. PDT. Additional activities will be held throughout Southern California during the week.
