US Department of Labor Wage and Hour Division regional administrator to hold media availability on prevailing wage rules

SAN FRANCISCO -- The regional administrator for the U.S. Department of Labor's Wage and Hour Division will speak to media representatives at a conference in Guam on Wednesday, May 19, about important prevailing wage information under the Davis-Bacon Act, McNamara-O’Hara Service Contract Act and Fair Labor Standards Act.

The conference, which will run May 17 through 20, aims to inform local businesses; federal, state and local contracting communities; and any other interested individuals and organizations about the prevailing wage laws and several other issues impacted by the Guam Base Realignment. Sessions also will address the upcoming prevailing wage survey. To ensure the most accurate wage rates, participation in the survey is encouraged for all contractors on Guam, regardless of a contractor’s interest in federal government construction contracts.

WHO: Regional Administrator of the Wage and Hour Division George Friday Jr.

WHAT: Media availability to discuss the prevailing wage survey, federal prevailing wage rules and requirements for those with federal contracts

WHEN: Wednesday, May 19 Noon to 12:30 p.m. Guam local time

WHERE: Guam Marriott Resort & Spa, 627B Pale San Vitores Road, Tumon, Guam
