US Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division opens new field office in Fort Smith, Ark.
FORT SMITH, Ark. -- The U.S. Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division has opened a new field office at the Judge Isaac C. Parker Federal Building in Fort Smith.
“We are pleased to announce the opening of another Wage and Hour Division office in the state of Arkansas,” said Cynthia Watson, regional administrator for the division in the Southwest. “This office will serve as a great resource for employees and employers seeking information concerning the federal labor laws we enforce.”
The division’s Fort Smith Field Office will have oversight for agency enforcement throughout the state. It also will connect employees, employers and community-based organizations with the resources and assistance needed to ensure that workers in low-wage industries – including laborers on federal construction and service contracts – are paid fairly for all hours worked.
The Wage and Hour Division services the state of Arkansas in five locations: Little Rock, Fayetteville, Jonesboro, Pine Bluff and now Fort Smith.
Anyone who wishes to receive wage and hour-related information, file a complaint or ask a question about federal wage laws should contact the Wage and Hour Division. Laws administered by the division include the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Davis-Bacon Act, the Service Contract Act and the Migrant and Seasonal Agricultural Worker Protection Act, among others. The Fort Smith Field Office can be reached at 479-494-1831 or in person at 30 S. 6th St., Suite B-107. Alternatively, the public may phone the Little Rock District Office at 501-223-9114.
