Houston employers, advocacy groups to participate in free U.S. Labor Department informational and outreach forum in Houston


Wages, pension, health benefits and job safety are among workshop topics

HOUSTON -- To learn more about family and medical leave, wages, pension protection, job safety, affirmative action programs and veterans re-employment rights, more than 200 employers, advocacy groups and community-based organizations have signed up to participate in the U.S. Department of Labor’s free informational and outreach forum for the Houston area.

The U.S. Department of Labor and Rice University will host workshops on Wednesday, May 27, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. CDT at Rice University’s Jones Graduates School of Management Building, Shell Oil Auditorium at 6100 Main St. in Houston.

Regional administrators from the Labor Department’s various agencies will present the workshops and be available to answer reporters’ questions. For interviews, a workshop list or to participate in the workshops, contact Elizabeth Todd in the department’s Office of Public Affairs at 972-850-4710.
