EDINBURG, Texas -- The U.S. Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division in McAllen, Texas, will offer a free informational outreach forum on Jan. 22, 2013, to assist small business employers in the Rio Grande Valley with requirements of Section 13 (a)(1) of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
Topics to be covered include minimum wage requirements—applicable to most employees in the United States—of $7.25 per hour for all hours worked and overtime requirements of time and one-half the regular rate of pay for all hours worked over 40 in a workweek. Exemptions from both minimum wage and overtime pay for workers employed as bona fide executive, administrative, professional and outside sales employees will also be covered.
Additionally, technical guidance will be provided in properly applying these exemptions. Advance registration is required by calling 956-665-7535.
