ALBUQUERQUE -- The Albuquerque District Office of the U.S. Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division will join the Mexican Consulate in Albuquerque to sponsor Labor Rights Week, Aug. 27-31. This year’s theme is “Protecting Labor Rights is Everyone’s Responsibility.”
To kick off the week, a signing ceremony to renew the partnership agreement between the Labor Department and the Mexican Consulate will be held at 10 a.m. MDT on Monday. The focus of the agreement is to provide Mexican migrant workers in New Mexico with information and guidance concerning employee rights under the Fair Labor Standards Act and the Migrant and Seasonal Agricultural Worker Protection Act, as well as the H-2A and H-2B programs under the Immigration and Nationality Act.
Wage and Hour Division staff will distribute compliance assistance materials, and be available to answer questions and take complaints.
