SALT LAKE CITY -- The Salt Lake City District Office of the U.S. Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division will join the Mexican Consulate in Salt Lake City to sponsor Labor Rights Week, Aug. 27-Aug. 31. This year’s theme is “Protecting Labor Rights is Everyone’s Responsibility.”
Presentations by Labor Department staff will cover the following topics: agricultural employment, including the Migrant and Seasonal Agricultural Worker Protection Act and the Immigration Control and Reform Act’s H-2A and H-2B requirements; and the Fair Labor Standards Act’s minimum wage and overtime requirements. Staff will provide compliance assistance materials, answer questions and take complaints.
