Join us to hear three experts discuss investing, credit, and home ownership in today’s market. Kelvin Boston is a financial journalist, author, and the Chief Executive Officer of Boston Media, Inc. He is the Executive Producer and Host of Moneywise with Kelvin Boston, a multi-cultural financial affairs television series. Mr. Boston is especially dedicated to reducing poverty in African American communities and teaching African Americans how to manage their money. He publishes the financial magazine Moneywise and is the author of Smart Money Moves for African Americans and The Smart Business Guides for African Americans. Prior to beginning his career in financial planning, Mr. Boston organized a housing counseling service in South Wilmington, Delaware, which is now one of the leading community housing development organizations in the state. He graduated from Lincoln University in Pennsylvania. Mary Hurlburt is the Director of Community Outreach for Consumer Credit Counseling Service (CCCS) of Greater Cincinnati and a Certified Consumer Credit Counselor. She has been with CCCS for 13 years. For the first three and a half years, she counseled clients with money and budgeting problems. Since 1998, she has worked in the education and community services area, developing and presenting a variety of training programs on personal finances to both professionals and the public. A popular local speaker who is interviewed frequently by the media, Ms. Hurlburt initiates partnerships with local businesses, financial institutions, non-profit organizations, and schools to address the issues of financial responsibility and economic literacy. Ms. Hurlburt is a trainer for Ohio’s Women & Money series, sponsored by the Ohio Treasurer of State’s Office. Lourdes Sampera is a Mortgage Banker with Flagstar Bank & Home Lending in Kirkland, Washington. She has over seven years of experience as a mortgage banker and over 19 years of experience in international business. Ms. Sampera’s passion is to share her knowledge and experience with the community. She provided free education on home ownership to the Hispanic community via a program on Radio Sol 1360 AM. She currently serves on the Board of Visitors of Antioch University in Seattle, is a member of the Bellevue Rotary, National Hispanic Leadership Institute, and Women of Color Empowerment Committee, and volunteers as an online mentor for the Women’s Bureau’s Wi$e Up project. Ms. Sampera received a B.A. in Spanish from Akron University and attended Universidad de El Salvador in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She fluently speaks English, Spanish, Italian, and French.
