For Immediate Release |
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The U.S. Department of Labor’s Women’s Bureau, joined by the Governor’s Work-Life Initiative and the city of Little Rock, will host an employer’s forum titled “Flex Options: The Natural State for Work” on Aug. 25 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. CDT at the Adult Leisure Center, 6401 W. 12 th St., in Little Rock.
“Companies need to know about the various options of working hours — be it flextime, compressed workweeks, part-time hours, job sharing or telecommuting — and how these can not only assist their employees and increase productivity, but impact the community as a whole,” said Beverly Lyle, regional administrator for the Women’s Bureau in Dallas. “This conference will give them that opportunity.”
The goal of the forum is to bring together representatives from government, academia, business and nonprofit organizations to discuss and explore the benefits of establishing a collaborative flex-option initiative that not only benefits the employer and employee, but is sustainable and can assist Arkansas in reducing its carbon footprint.
Representatives from the city of Houston, the San Diego Association of Governments and Washtenaw County, Mich., will share their successful public and private workplace-flexibility initiatives. Company executives from Arkansas also will speak about the benefits of flex options.
To register, call 972-850-4700, or send an e-mail message to wbflex.options@dol.gov by Aug. 21.
