The Women’s Bureau and Women Entrepreneurs, Inc. (WE, Inc.) convened the National Women’s Leadership Summit on October 17-18, 2004 to bring together inspiring and accomplished women to further Better Jobs! Better Earnings! Better Living! for 21st Century working women. We honored our partners and mentors and other organizations for their contributions, celebrated our mutual achievements, and energized and inspired each other as we developed ways to move forward.
A word from Secretary of Labor Elaine L. Chao:
“Welcome to the National Women’s Leadership Summit! Wherever I go across this country, I meet women like you who are making a difference in their neighborhoods, communities, and workplaces. Some of you have participated as mentors, leaders, and partners in Women’s Bureau programs such as GEM-SET, GEM-Nursing, Wi$e Up, and Flex-Options, while others of you have created other programs that have helped women and girls better their lives. As entrepreneurs and community leaders, you are creating opportunity and hope – and making a significant contribution to the economic vitality of our country. Working together, you can help other women create jobs and achieve their dreams. I wish you the very best as you discuss best practices and strategize on your next steps.” |
