Welcome to the Women's Bureau, Region VIII Web page. The headquarters for the Regional Office is in Denver, Colorado. The Regional office provides services to women living in the six States of Colorado, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah, and Wyoming.
This Region's major metropolitan area is considered the Mile High City of Denver. It is situated at the foot of 58 mountains that soar over 14,000 feet, in the center of the metropolitan area. The city continues to experience major growth with construction of new highways, housing, and revitalization with the closing of a major air force and army facility. Salt Lake City, Utah is the next largest metropolitan area. Differences in ancestry and economic status mark its architectural and agricultural economy. In the Rocky Mountains of Colorado and Utah, the plains of Wyoming, the Right to Work State of North Dakota, South Dakota, and Big Sky Montana there are twenty six American Indian Reservations. There are diverse industries, which include agriculture, construction, food processing, government, manufacturing, retail trade and growing technology services--and the opportunity to experience real cowboys/cowgirls. Women are employed in many of the "service sector" industries. This Region also has a large percentage of women-owned businesses.
Please take the opportunity to explore the Web page. As you click on each State, you will find more specific statistical data on women.
We hope you will find this information helpful and visit often. For further information, please telephone the office.
