Director of National Programs — Ruth Samardick

Ruth Samardick

Ruth Samardick is the Director of National Programs at the U.S. Department of Labor's Veterans' Employment and Training Service (VETS). In that role, she is responsible for establishing policies and procedures for the efficient and effective operation of the agency's grant programs – the Jobs for Veterans State Grants Program, the Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program, and the Veterans' Workforce Investment Program; as well as VETS' compliance and investigative programs – the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA), Veterans' Preference in federal employment, and veteran employment reporting requirements for federal contractors. Ruth has been part of VETS since 2005. Prior to her appointment in VETS, she was the Director of Program Economics in DOL's Office of the Assistant Secretary for Policy (OASP). During her eleven-year tenure in OASP, Ruth provided leadership and expertise on immigration, agricultural labor, international labor, trade adjustment assistance and other workforce readiness issues.
