EXPLANATION OF MATERIAL TRANSMITTED:

This material is issued as procedural guidance to update the text of Unified Procedure Manual (PM) 2-0800 Developing and Weighing Medical Evidence as follows:

• Section 2 and 9 reflect that “District Medical Consultants (DMC)” is now “Contract Medical Consultants (CMC).”
• Section 5 has expanded and subsection “a” (Physicians and chiropractors) has been included.
• Section 9 has expanded and includes a broader explanation of CMC reviews.
• Section 14 contains new guidance for “Second Opinion Examinations.”
• Section 15 contains new guidance for “Referee Specialist Examinations.”
• Section 16 is now “Failure to Undergo Second Opinion or Referee Specialist Examination” and includes subsection “c” (Disruptions at the Medical Examination).
