Division of Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation (DEEOIC)
JOTG Outreach Events in the State of Washington! – On August 26, 2014, in Richland, Washington, and on August 27, 2014, in Spokane, Washington, officials from the Division of Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation (DEEOIC) participated in two Town Hall Meetings (THMs). The purpose of the meetings was to inform current and former nuclear weapons employees who worked at two covered facilities in Richland, Washington, about the benefits available to them under the EEOICPA. Former and current workers were invited to an Open House held on August 26, to ask DEEOIC’s representatives about benefits available under the program. The meetings were hosted by the Joint Outreach Task Group (JOTG) which is composed of representatives from DEEOIC, the U.S. Department of Labor’s (DOL) Office of the Ombudsman for the EEOICPA, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), DOE’s Former Worker Medical Screening Program, and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). Members of the JOTG were present at the meetings to provide information about the EEOICPA and to answer questions. Presentations were given by the Assistant District Director for the Seattle district office and Chief of Operations from the Seattle district office. Gregory Lewis, Director, Office of Worker Screening and Compensation Support of the DOE’s Office of Health, Safety and Security, also presented. A total of 259 people attended both sessions.
