Town Hall Meetings in Massachusetts & Connecticut! – The Division of Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation (DEEOIC) hosted two (2) Town Hall Meetings (THMs) on Wednesday, June 18, 2014, in Attleboro, Massachusetts, and Thursday June 19, 2014, in Cromwell, Connecticut, to provide general information about compensation and medical benefits available under the EEOICPA. At each THM location, a general program presentation was provided by DEEOIC Director Rachel Leiton. Representatives from the Cleveland district office gave the medical benefits presentation. The meetings targeted former employees of covered facilities in Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island. An official from the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) assisted in the question & answer session with regard to inquiries about radiogenic cancers, film badges, the Special Exposure Cohort (SEC) designation process, and dose reconstructions. Staff from the National Office Branch of Outreach and Technical Assistance, the New York Resource Center (RC), and the Cleveland district office assisted claimants in filing new claims and with status updates on existing claims. Each day, the Traveling Resource Center (TRC) was open from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. Officials from the Ombudsman’s office were present to provide assistance to the claimants.
