DEEOIC Outreach Event in Bridgeton, Missouri! – On June 16 & 17, the Division of Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation (DEEOIC) hosted 2 Town Hall Meetings (THMs) at the International Union of Operating Engineers Hall in Bridgeton, Missouri, to notify current and former nuclear weapons workers about the benefits available to them under the EEOICPA. DEEOIC Director Rachel Leiton presented an overview of Parts B and E of the EEOICPA, and representatives from the Joint Outreach Task Group, of which DEEOIC is a member, also presented information. Claims examiners from the Denver district office and staff from the Paducah resource center were available at the THMs to assist individuals with the filing of new claims and provide status updates on existing claims. THM sessions began at 6:00 pm on June 16 and at 10 am on June 17 and drew a total of 160 visitors. Congressional representatives from the offices of Congressman Mike Bost (IL) and Congressman John Shimkus (IL) attended on June 16, and a reporter with KMOX St. Louis met with DEEOIC Director Rachel Leiton for an audio interview following the event on June 17.
