This project was
initiated by DFEC as a result of a prior study of the effectiveness of the
FECA COP Nurse Intervention Program conducted by the Urban Institute. The study reaffirmed our belief that a more
effective program for coordinating our intervention activities and efforts
during the COP with you was needed.
Late in 2006, we brought a team of experts from SRA on board to help us
with this project. The SRA team
utilized a multi-tiered approach – interviews were conducted with our district
office staff, our COP and Field nurses, and many of you. Extensive literature research was also
conducted to document best practices.
You may recall that in February of 2007, one of the subject matter
experts from the SRA team conducted a work shop after our SHARE awards
ceremony. We wanted to take the
opportunity to share with you their findings and to provide you with an update
on where we are now and where we hope to be in the future in terms of
improving the program.
