Therefore, it is important that your application be submitted at the earliest possible time. Self-Instructional Training Course
OWCP has developed a self-instructional CD for beginning compensation specialists. This CD is intended to provide very basic information for new compensation specialists and is not intended to be a substitute for the workshop. The course provides introductory information on several topics including initial review of traumatic injury and occupational disease claims, continuation of pay (COP), controversion of COP, commonly used forms and time requirements for submitting them. There is also instructional information at our web site: http://www.dol.gov/owcp/dfec/
Workshop for Supervisors
We conduct a Workshop for Supervisors that is approximately 3 hours in length and provides a general overview of supervisory responsibilities, compensation law, philosophy, benefits and common claim forms. A minimum of 25 participants are required if this training is to be held at your location outside the Kansas City Metro area.
