Women can now get the latest information on women in the labor force with the click of a mouse. The U.S. Department of Labor Women's Bureau has launched ten regional websites providing localized statistical data, resource information, in-house publications and reports, and news updates/upcoming events for every state. "As we approach the 21st Century it is key that we provide America's working women--and women who want to work--with the necessary tools and the understanding of the future of the workplace," said Labor Secretary Alexis M. Herman. The regional web pages are designed to inform the public about issues affecting the lives of America's working women. It also serves as a direct link to the only federal agency mandated to promote the welfare of wage-earning women. The user-friendly regional websites can be accessed through the Women's Bureau home page address ( www.dol.gov/wb/welcome.html) or directly at (www.dol.gov/wb/info_about_wb/regions/regions.htm). In addition, through on-line access to the Fair Pay Clearinghouse, browsers can also gain vital information on pay equity for women. "The Women's Bureau regional websites are just beginning steps into this new era of high technology," said Ida L.Castro, head of the bureau . "So we want to ensure that women get the facts, understand their rights and know what works in the new culture of work, and these websites do just that."
