The three working groups formed this year by the Advisory Council on
Employee Welfare and Pension Benefit Plans will hold public meetings Aug. 11
and 12. All sessions will take place in Conference Room N-4437 C&D at the
U.S. Department of Labor's Frances Perkins Building, 200 Constitution Avenue
NW, Washington, DC.
The subcommittee studying disclosure of information on the quality of
health care plan will meet from 9:30 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, Aug. 11. The
working group on how to enhance and encourage the establishment of pension
plans by small business will convene from 1 - 4 p.m. the same day.
The working group on retirement plan leakage will primarily discuss
in-service distributions as well as hardship and participant loans from
employer-sponsored pension plans. They will meet from 9:30 a.m. until noon on
Wednesday, Aug. 12.
All three groups will continue taking testimony on their subjects at the
August session as well as in September before preparing reports of their
findings and presenting them to Secretary of Labor Alexis M. Herman by the full
Council's final meeting, set for Nov. 13. There is no full Advisory Council
meeting planned for the August session.
Individuals or organizations wishing to address issues being studied by
the individual working groups should contact Sharon Morrissey, executive

are limited to 10 minutes, but witnesses may submit extended statements for the
record.
Members of the public who do not wish to testify before the individual
groups, but who want their statements included as part of the official
proceedings may submit 20 copies of their statements to the above address.

The Advisory Council is a bipartisan group of 15 members appointed by
the Secretary of Labor to represent a wide range of interests in the employee
benefits area. The council advises and makes recommendations to the Labor
Secretary on the administration of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act
(ERISA).
