Representatives of shipyard operators, labor unions, professional
associations and government agencies will meet Feb. 24 through Feb. 26, 1998,
in San Diego, Calif., to continue work on a proposed Occupational Safety and
Health Administration (OSHA) fire protection standard for shipyard workers.
It will be the sixth public meeting of the Fire Protection for Shipyard
Employment Negotiated Rulemaking Advisory Committee, formed to develop
consensus on a proposal under the Occupational Safety and Health Act.
The committee will focus its discussions on fire brigades and current
rules. The committee's goal is to develop a proposed rule and explanatory
preamble that its members support.
The meeting will start at 9 a.m. and end about 5 p.m. daily at the
Holiday Inn on the Bay, 1355 North Harbor Drive at the Embarcadero, San Diego,
CA, 92101; telephone (619)232-3861. Comments, requests for oral presentations
and requests for disability accommodations should be submitted by Feb. 10,
1998.
Comments, data, views or statements for consideration by the committee,
as well as requests for oral presentations, should be mailed to Odet Shaw, U.S.

presentation should state the time desired and the interest the person
represents, and provide a summary of the presentation.
