For more information call: (202) 219-8151

The Advisory Committee on Construction Safety and Health (ACCSH) will hold an open full committee meeting by teleconference Wednesday, Dec. 18, at the Frances Perkins Building, U.S. Department of Labor, 200 Constitution Ave., NW, Room N3437 A and B, Washington, D.C.

The teleconference meeting will begin at 1 p.m. and end about 3 p.m.

ACCSH provides continuing advice and recommendations to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) on matters relating to safety and health in construction employment. OSHA is seeking the advice and recommendations of ACCSH on how to evaluate the practical application of OSHA's construction safety and health standards to the residential construction industry. The teleconference meeting will explore ways ACCSH can assist OSHA, such as through the utilization of an ACCSH work group or outside consultants.

Due to scheduling difficulties, OSHA is unable to wait until the regularly scheduled meeting of ACCSH in March 1997 to request assistance. For the same reason, OSHA is unable to provide the usual 15-day advance notice of this teleconference meeting. However, a discussion of the teleconference meeting will take place at the March 1997 ACCSH meeting.

Anyone wishing to make an oral presentation should notify Tom Hall, OSHA Division of Consumer Affairs, Room N-3647, U.S. Department of Labor, 200 Constitution Ave., N.W., Washington, D.C. 20210, telephone (202) 219-8615 before the meeting. The request should state the amount of time desired, the capacity in which the person will appear and a brief outline of the content of the presentation. Persons who request the opportunity to address the committee may be allowed to speak, as time permits, at the discretion of the committee chair.

Individuals with disabilities who wish to attend the meeting and who require special accommodations also should contact Tom Hall at the Division of Consumer Affairs address or telephone (202) 219-8615.

Hall also may be contacted for additional information about the meeting.

An official record of the meeting will be available for public inspection at the OSHA Docket Office, Room N-2625, telephone (202) 219-7894.

The 15-member advisory committee advises OSHA on standards and policies designed to protect construction workers from workplace hazards. ACCSH consists of five representatives each of employers and employees, two representatives of state government, two public representatives and one federal representative. Members serve two-year terms.

Notice of the advisory committee meeting was published in the Tuesday, Dec. 10, 1996, Federal Register.
