For more information call: (202) 219-8151

It's not too late to submit comments on OSHA's proposed recordkeeping proposal. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration today announced that the public comment period on the revised proposal will be extended through July 1.

Comments on the proposal, which would simplify procedures and improve data accuracy, should be submitted in quadruplicate, or one original (hard copy) and one disk in WordPerfect 5.0, 5.1, 6.0 or ASCII to:

Docket Officer
Docket No. R-02
Occupational Safety and Health Administration
Room N-2625
U.S. Department of Labor
200 Constitution Avenue, N.W.
Washington D.C. 20210

Comments of 10 pages or less may be faxed to (202) 219-5046 with an original and four copies of the comment letter sent to the Docket Officer.

The extension is being made in response to stakeholders' requests.

OSHA's Notice of Proposed Rulemaking to revise the recording and reporting of workplace deaths, injuries and illnesses appeared in the February 2, 1996 Federal Register. The agency held public meetings to discuss the rule March 26-29 and again on April 30 and May 1. The public comment period was also extended from its original deadline of April 29 to May 31. The new deadline for receipt of comments is July 1.

OSHA has placed transcripts of the public meetings and additional reference material for review in the docket.

Notice of this extension is on file and will be published in the June 3, 1996 Federal Register. Text of the proposed rule is on the Internet World Wide Web at http://www.osha.gov/ under "Standards."
