The Advisory Committee on Construction Safety and Health
(ACCSH) will hold public meetings June 12 and 13 in Room S4215A-C, Frances
Perkins Building, U.S. Department of Labor, 200 Constitution Ave., N.W.,
Washington, D.C.
The meetings will be from 9 a.m. to approximately 5 p.m.
on June 12 and from 8:30 a.m. to approximately 12:00 p.m. on June 13.
On June 12, OSHA will brief ACCSH on the status of
standards-related activities for construction. In particular, the agency will
report on the draft final rule for scaffolds (subpart L); the deliberations of
the Steel Erection Negotiated Rulemaking Advisory Committee; and the status of
rulemaking efforts regarding fall protection (subpart M). Also, the work group
on safety and health programs will report to the full advisory committee, which
will discuss that report.
In the afternoon, the work groups on safety and health
programs, confined spaces, and health and safety for women in construction will
meet from about 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
On June 13, the work groups on confined spaces and health
and safety for women in construction will report to the full advisory
committee, which will discuss those reports.
Written data, views or comments may be submitted,
preferably with 20 copies, to Tom Hall, OSHA Division of Consumer Affairs, Room
N-3647, 200 Constitution Ave., N.W., Washington, D.C. 20210. Submissions
received prior to the meeting will be provided to committee members and
included in the meeting record. An official record of the meeting will be
available for public inspection at the OSHA Docket Office, Room N-2625,
telephone (202) 219-7894.
Anyone wishing to make an oral presentation should notify
the Division of Consumer Affairs before the meeting. The request should state
the amount of time desired, the capacity in which the person will appear and a
brief outline of the content of the presentation. Persons who request the
opportunity to address the committee may be allowed to speak, as time permits,
at the discretion of the committee chair.

The 15-member advisory committee advises OSHA on standards
and policies designed to protect construction workers from workplace hazards.
ACCSH consists of five representatives each of employers and employees, two
representatives of state government, two public representatives and one federal
representative. Members serve two-year terms.
