The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)
will hold another public meeting on revised rules it has proposed for recording
workplace deaths, injuries and illnesses.
OSHA held public meetings on the proposal from March 26 to
March 29. This additional meeting was scheduled in response to a request from
stakeholders who were unable to attend the earlier meeting. It will give the
public another opportunity to inform OSHA of issues raised by the proposal.
The public comment period for commenting on the
recordkeeping proposal also has been extended from May 2 to May 31, 1996.
Seating in the public meeting is limited and will be
available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Persons wishing to make
presentations should contact Tom Hall, U.S. Department of Labor, OSHA, Room
N-3647, 200 Constitution Ave., N.W., Washington, DC 20210, phone (202) 219-8148
on or before April 19. The amount of time available for each presenter may be
limited by OSHA if necessary.
The meeting will be held at the U.S. Department of Labor,
200 Constitution Ave. N.W., Washington, DC 20210 in Room S-4215 A, B & C,
beginning at 8:30 a.m. on April 30 and extending through May 1, if
necessary.
The proposed revisions are aimed at simplifying the
reporting and recordkeeping system and improving future use of the data.
The proposal was published in the Feb 2, 1996, Federal
Register and is also available through OSHA's Home Page on the Internet at
http://www.osha.gov, in the "What's New" section.
Comments on the proposal are to be submitted in
quadruplicate, or one original (hard copy) and one disk (5 1/4" or 3 1/2") in
WP 5.0, 5.1, 5.2, 6.0 or ASCII. Any information not contained on the disk, such
as studies or articles, must be submitted in quadruplicate. All comments are to
be submitted to Docket Officer, Docket No. R-02, Occupational Safety and Health
Administration, Room N-2625, U.S. Department of Labor, 200 Constitution Ave.,
N.W., Washington, DC 20210, telephone (202) 219-7894. Comments of 10 pages or
less may be transmitted by facsimile to (202) 219-5046 provided the original
and four copies of the comment are later sent to the Docket Officer.
Notice of the additional meeting is published in the
Monday, April 8, 1996, Federal Register.
