The Advisory Committee on Construction Safety and Health
(ACCSH) will meet Aug. 8-9 in Room C-5515, Seminar Room 6, of the Frances
Perkins Building at 200 Constitution Ave., N.W., Washington, D.C., the U.S.
Labor Department's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)
announced today.
The meeting, which is open to the public, runs from 9:00
a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Aug. 8 and 8:30 a.m. to approximately 12:30 p.m. on Aug.
9. On Aug. 8, OSHA will brief ACCSH on construction standards under development
including steel erection, scaffolds and powered industrial trucks. The agency
also will discuss legislative and policy issues, electrical safety, commercial
diving and the activities of its Office of Construction and Engineering.
In the afternoon on Aug. 8, ACCSH will discuss the draft
"Protective Standard for Musculoskeletal Disorders in Construction" developed
by an ACCSH work group. The work group will make this document available to the
public on Aug. 4. For a single copy, call Tom Hall at (202) 219-8615. Following
ACCSH discussion of the document, there will be an opportunity for public
comment. On Aug. 9, ACCSH work groups on safety and health programs, electrical
safety and health and safety for women in construction will provide their
reports to the full committee for discussion.
Written data, views or comments may be submitted,
preferably with 20 copies, to Tom Hall, OSHA Division of Consumer Affairs, Room
N-3647, 200 Constitution Ave., N.W., Washington, D.C. 20210. Submissions
received prior to the meeting will be provided to committee members and
included in the meeting records. An official record of the meeting will be
available for public inspection at the OSHA Docket Office, Room N2625,

Anyone wishing to make an oral presentation should notify
Tom Hall in the Division of Consumer Affairs (at the above address) before the
meeting. The request should state the amount of time desired, the capacity in
which the person will appear and a brief outline of the content of the
presentation. Persons who request the opportunity to address the committee may
be allowed to speak, as time permits, at the discretion of the committee chair.

The 15-member advisory committee advises OSHA on standards
and policies designed to protect construction workers from workplace hazards.
ACCSH consists of five representatives each of employers and employees, two
representatives of state government, two public representatives and one federal
representative.
