Nonfarm Business Productivity rose at an annual rate of 1.3% in the second quarter, and at a very high average rate of 2.9% over the past year. Productivity growth has averaged almost 2% over the past three years, which is well above the trend for the past 25 years.

Because of our high rate of productivity growth, we continue to enjoy a virtuous combination of high incomes, low unemployment and low inflation. American workers are sharing in this prosperity, as real hourly compensation of U.S. workers rose 1.5% in the second quarter and 2.2% over the past year.
