Our nation's economy remains strong and solid.

The overall unemployment rate for the month of March was 4.2 percent--the lowest since 1970.

Today's report show's robust employment growth continuing in the high-skill and high-paying fields like engineering and management services, with gained 21,000 new jobs last month. Computer services also grew, with the addition of 10,000 new jobs. The message is clear: For American workers, knowing means growing.

And we continue to see that this economic good news affects all segments of the population. The unemployment rate for high school drop-outs fell to 6.1 percent, down by almost half since this administration came into office. And I'm delighted that we made a bit of history today in this report with the fact that at 5.8 percent the unemployment rate for Hispanic Americans is the lowest since we started collecting this data in 1972.
