This budget contains major investments in education and training, investments in our future that I believe are necessary for America to succeed in the 21st century. My top priority is preparing our youth for the future and I am extremely pleased that the final agreement includes full funding for our youth programs -- summer jobs, the youth opportunities initiative, school-to-work, the year-round youth program and Job Corps.

It is also significant that the budget bill includes full funding for the President's initiative to combat child labor both internationally and at home. This investment will make the U.S. the world leader in supporting programs to reduce abusive child labor and will go a long way in raising the dialogue internationally on core labor standards.

This agreement between the administration and Congress will also allow the Department to continue our important work of protecting the health, safety and security of America's workers, including developing a practical, flexible ergonomics standard to prevent work-related musculoskeletal disorders.
