"I am very pleased the Senate has confirmed Katharine Abraham
expeditiously, with the help of Majority Leader Trent Lott, Minority Leader Tom
Daschle, Labor and Human Resources Committee Chairman Jim Jeffords and Sen.
Edward Kennedy, the committee's ranking minority member.
"The Bureau of Labor Statistics is respected worldwide for its
statistical analysis. Ms. Abraham's leadership, expertise and stature in the
economic community have continued the high standards for which the Bureau of
Labor Statistics has been known.
