"Based on my conversations with United Parcel Service CEO Jim Kelly and
Teamsters President Ron Carey I am encouraged that both parties have responded
to the President's and my request to meet. The leaders of both sides will get
together at the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service Headquarters in
Washington Thursday afternoon with John C. Wells."
"The President and I feel strongly that both the company and the
workers, as well as the American people, have much to gain in a quick
resolution to this dispute."
