I contacted United Parcel Service Chairman and CEO James Kelly and
Teamsters President Ron Carey today. I spoke to both parties privately by
telephone this afternoon and urged them both to go back to the bargaining
table. These talks are important both for the one in 400 American workers who
work directly for UPS as well as for the company itself, and for countless
other businesses, workers and families who are directly and indirectly affected
by negotiations. Federal mediation services continue to be available to both
parties.
