I urge both parties to return to the bargaining table and negotiate in
good faith until they reach a fair settlement. There are serious issues
involved, but they can be worked out through the collective bargaining process
under the auspices of the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service. UPS and
Teamsters representatives should press on and not rest until they find the
common ground that resolves this dispute with the least disruption and
inconvenience for everyone involved, including the public that depends on the
service that UPS and its employees provide.
