The nation's rock-solid economy continues on a terrific roll with nearly
12 million new jobs created since January, 1993.
Today's employment situation report shows a gain of 175,000 net payroll
jobs in March--an increase of 194,000 jobs in the private sector. The
unemployment rate in March was 5.2 percent...the thirty-first consecutive month
that the rate has been below 6 percent and the fourteenth consecutive month
that it has been at or below 5.5 percent.
The report also shows that since January, 1994, 65 percent of the net
increase in total employment has been in the relatively high wage managerial
and professional occupations.
