February is a month short on days but it was long on jobs. 339,000 new jobs were created led by the construction industry which put 109,000 workers on the payroll thanks to mild weather. Unemployment was 5.3% in February marking more than a year of unemployment at 5.5% or below.

Unemployment statistics indicate the economy continues on a strong and steady course. The Federal government continues to pare down, construction is booming, and wages show no sign of accelerating inflation.

February marks the 30th consecutive month with unemployment below 6% indicating the great American job machine chugs along in any kind of weather.
