OPA Press Release: Statement by Labor Secretary Robert B. Reich on Ergonomics [07/11/1996]

I want to thank the 216 members of Congress who put the health and safety of American workers ahead of partisan politics. This is good government plain and simple.

The members who voted for the Pelosi Amendment recognized that repetitive stress injuries (RSIs) are one of the fastest growing problems in this country. If injuries are occurring in the workplace, its up to the Labor Department to find a way to prevent them. That's our job. American workers have other things to worry about. America is working right when American workers are kept healthy on the job. We thank Congress for a job well done.
