I am stunned and deeply saddened by the news of the death
of my friend and colleague, Ron Brown. We were together earlier this week in
Lille and Paris for the G-7 meetings. As head of the delegation, Ron showed the
kind of passion and commitment he has personified as the Secretary of
Commerce.
This is a tremendous personal loss for those of us who
have known and worked with Ron, and it is a terrible loss to our country and to
our international partners. He will be greatly missed.
My heartfelt sympathies go out to Alma and the children
and to the families of all those who died in the crash.
