The Consumer Price Index moderated in November increasing
0.2 percent for the second month in a row. Over the past 12 months, the CPI has
risen 3.4 percent.
The "core" (finished goods less food and energy) Consumer
Price Index increased by 0.3 percent in November. An increase in tobacco prices
was principally responsible for the larger advance. Excluding tobacco prices -
which rose 3.6 percent - the "core" CPI would have increased 0.2 percent. Over
the past 12 months, the "core" Consumer Price Index has risen 2.6 percent.
