The Producer Price Index for finished goods decelerated in
November. The Index increased 0.1 percent, after rising 0.4 percent in October
and 0.9 percent in September.
Over the past 12 months, prices for finished goods rose
3.7 percent. The acceleration from a 3.1 percent increase during the
year-earlier period is accounted for by energy prices.
Excluding the volatile energy and food sectors, the "core"
producer price index for finished goods remained unchanged in November. The
"core" producer price index increased 1.0 percent in the past year, an apparent
deceleration from 1.8 percent during the year-earlier period.
