Statement of U.S. Labor Secretary Elaine L. Chao on U.S.
House Vote in Support of New Overtime Security Rules
WASHINGTON—U.S. Secretary of Labor Elaine L. Chao today
released the following statement regarding today’s vote in the U.S. House
to kill a motion to block implementation of the Labor Department’s new
Overtime Security rules:
“Today’s House vote in support of the Department of
Labor’s new Overtime Security rules is a victory for the millions of
American workers who will benefit from stronger overtime protection.
“Today’s vote also shows that the misinformation campaign
against the new rules is being defeated by the facts. These new rules guarantee
and strengthen overtime rights for 6.7 million workers, and better protect
first responders, team leaders and blue-collar workers.”
