Statement of U.S. Labor Secretary Elaine L. Chao on
November State and Regional Unemployment Numbers
WASHINGTON—U.S. Secretary of Labor Elaine L. Chao
released the following statement on the November state and regional employment
data released today:
“We've now seen 15 straight months of job creation with more
than 2.4 million new jobs created. As today's numbers demonstrate, the
sustained jobs recovery continues to be broad based. Over the last year,
the unemployment rate has declined in 42 states, while non-farm employment
increased in 48 states and the District of Columbia.
“Our Nation is on track for sustained economic growth because of the resilience
and determination of the American people and the pro-growth policies of
the Bush Administration.”
