Statement of U.S. Labor Secretary Elaine L. Chao
On September State and Regional Unemployment Numbers
WASHINGTON—U.S. Secretary of Labor Elaine L. Chao
released the following statement on the September state and regional employment
data released today:
“Our economy has experienced 13 straight months of job growth. Today's
news shows that the unemployment rate has declined in 46 states over the
last year, while non-farm employment increased in 47 states and the District
of Columbia.
“These positive numbers show that the President's economic policies are
improving the lives of millions of Americans, but Congress still needs to
act on his proposals to further strengthen the economy by reducing wasteful
litigation, providing more access to health insurance for small businesses
and making permanent tax relief for working families.”
