Statement of U.S. Labor Secretary Elaine L. Chao on May
State and Regional Unemployment Numbers
WASHINGTON—U.S. Secretary of Labor Elaine L. Chao released
the following statement on the May state and regional employment data released
today:
“1.4 million jobs have been created in the last nine months.
Today’s news shows the unemployment rate is down in 46 of the 50 states
over the past year. This news, along with the other positive economic numbers
shows the economy continues to grow stronger for America’s
workers.”
