Statement of Labor Secretary Elaine L. Chao on
Court’s OK of New Union Transparency Rule
WASHINGTON—U.S. Secretary of Labor Elaine L. Chao issued the
following statement regarding the decision by Judge Gladys Kessler of the
United States District Court upholding the U.S. Department of Labor’s new
union financial transparency rule and allowing it to go into effect later this
year.
“This decision is a major victory for rank-and-file union members
and affirms that the new union transparency reforms are inherently reasonable.
Because of this ruling, union members will have access to meaningful
information on their union’s fiscal health, management and
priorities.”
