WASHINGTONU.S. Secretary of Labor Elaine L. Chao announced
today that the United States Senate has confirmed President Bushs

2001, Law has served as Secretary Chaos Chief of Staff.
I want to thank the Senate for confirming Steven as Deputy
Secretary of Labor the number two position in the department, said Chao.
Steven has exceptional experience and has helped advance major
Administration initiatives such as post-9/11 economic recovery, retirement
security, and regulatory reforms. He is a proven leader, and he'll do a great
job as Deputy Secretary.

accomplish key goals and initiatives.
Steven Law began his career in the Congress and has been a top Senate
leadership aide and recognized as one of the fifty most influential staffers on
Capitol Hill. He served as counsel to the Chairman of the Senate Ethics
Committee and played a major role in its historic decision to expel a sitting
Senator.
Mr. Law was born in Oakland, California and grew up in Saudi Arabia. He
graduated cum laude from the University of California at Davis with an
undergraduate degree in music composition. He received a law degree from the
