Highlights Workforce Initiatives and Proven Team Success Stories

ORLANDO The U.S. Department of Labor and the Workforce Excellence Network are hosting the fourth annual Journey to Performance Excellence Conference – JOURNEY 2002 – through Jan. 16 at the Rosen Centre Hotel in Orlando, Fla.

“This conference provides workforce professionals with the tools and ideas to promote excellence,” U.S. Department of Labor official Bill Sanders said. “The programs highlighted are proven models of success that others can emulate.”

The conference will highlight organizations that promote excellence in workforce development through proven initiatives and partnerships. Speakers will focus on the value of these partnerships in leading the workforce into the future.

Another important feature at the conference will be the Teams Excellence Showcase Live Competition. The four team finalists are: Comtrac Team, State of Florida; Leadership Institute Initiative Team (U.S. Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration), Atlanta, Ga.; Trident One Stop Career Center, South Carolina; and the Work First-Job Success Coach Initiative Team, Washington. They will present their Workforce Development System models used to facilitate continuous improvement in their organizations.

Winners will be announced Tuesday during a reception and dinner event at the Rosen Centre hotel.
