The U.S. Department of Labor is awarding $683,492 to the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) to expand America's Learning Exchange, the department's emerging on-line database of education and training providers, Secretary of Labor Alexis M. Herman announced today.

America's Learning Exchange is part of the Labor Department-sponsored America's Career Kit, which includes America's Job Bank and Talent Bank, which list jobs and resumes and America's Career InfoNet, which contains extensive labor-market information. These Internet sites allow people to access valuable career information, learn of job openings and post their resumes for review by employers.

"These on-line services offer comprehensive information to job-seekers and employers," Herman said. "America's Job Bank lists nearly 900,000 jobs. With the Learning Exchange you can browse a network of education and training sources to find a program that suits your career needs."

The grant will be used to add information about community colleges to America's Learning Exchange and to make community college information available at one-stop career centers managed by state employment services. The one-year grant is authorized under the Wagner Peyser Act. The Learning Exchange can be accessed at www.alx.org.
