The working groups of the Advisory Council on Employee
Welfare and Pension Benefit Plans will hold public meetings on June 12 and 13
in Room N-5437 A&B, U.S. Department of Labor, 200 Constitution Avenue,
N.W., Washington, D.C.
On June 12, from 9:30 a.m. to noon, the Working Group on
Merits of Defined Contribution and Defined Benefit Plans with Emphasis on Small
Business Concerns will meet. From 1 to 3:30 p.m. the Working Group on Employer
Assets in ERISA Employer-Sponsored Plans will meet. Both groups will take
testimony on their respective topics.
On June 13, from 9:30 a.m. to noon, the Working Group on
Soft Dollar Arrangements and Commission Recapture will meet to continue taking
testimony on topics of industry soft dollar and directed brokerage practices.
Following the Soft Dollar Working Group meeting, the full council will meet
from 1 to 3:30 p.m. to discuss the progress of the three working groups.
Individuals or organizations wishing to address the
council should submit 20 copies of a written statement before June 6 to Sharon
Morrissey, executive secretary, ERISA Advisory Council, U.S. Department of
Labor, Suite N-5677, 200 Constitution Ave., N.W., Washington, D.C. 20210. Oral
presentations are limited to 10 minutes but witnesses may submit an extended
statement for the record.
Members of the public who do not wish to testify may
submit 20 copies of their statement to the above address. Individuals with
disabilities who need special accommodations should also contact the department
by June 6 at the address above.
The Advisory Council is a bipartisan group of 15 members
appointed by the Secretary of Labor to represent a wide range of interests in
the employee benefit area. The council advises and makes recommendations to the
secretary on the administration of ERISA.
