The working groups of the Advisory Council on Employee Welfare and
Pension Benefit Plans will hold public meetings on May 13 and 14 in Room N-5437
A&B, U.S. Department of Labor Building, Third and Constitution Avenue,
N.W., Washington, D.C. 20210.
On May 13 from 9:30 a.m. to noon the Working Group on Merits of Defined
Contribution and Defined Benefit Plans with Emphasis on Small Business Concerns
will meet. From 1 to 3:30 p.m. the Working Group on Soft Dollars and Commission
Recapture will meet. Both groups will begin taking testimony on their
respective topics.
On May 14, from 9:30 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 3:30 p.m., the Working
Group on Employer Assets in ERISA Employer-Sponsored Plans will meet. The group
will seek testimony related to Department of Labor issues and violations and
current and legislative history and actions related to employer assets. They
will also discuss the types of plans that include employer assets or
securities.
Individuals or organizations wishing to address the council should
submit 20 copies of a written statement before May 6 to Sharon Morrissey,
executive secretary, ERISA Advisory Council, U.S. Department of Labor, Suite
N-5677, 200 Constitution Ave., N.W., Washington, D.C. 20210. Oral presentations
are limited to 10 minutes but witnesses may submit an extended statement for
the record.
Members of the public who do not wish to testify may submit 20 copies
of their statement to the above address. Individuals with disabilities who need
special accommodations should also contact the department by May 6 at the
address above.
The Advisory Council is a bipartisan group of 15 members appointed by
the Secretary of Labor to represent a wide range of interests in the employee
benefit area. The council advises and makes recommendations to the secretary on
the administration of ERISA.
