ERISA ADVISORY COUNCIL TO HOLD PUBLIC MEETINGS IN
OCTOBER

The Secretary of Labor's Advisory Council on Employee Welfare and Pension Benefit Plans will hold work group meetings Oct. 10-11 in Room S-3215 A-B at the U. S. Department of Labor, 200 Constitution Ave. N. W., Washington, D. C. 20210.
The pension education and real estate investment work groups will meet Oct. 10. The pension group will meet at 9:30 a.m. to formulate the final recommendations on the necessity of the department's continuing efforts to better educate the public to save for retirement and to help identify additional ways in which this challenge can be met. The real estate investment group will meet at 1 p.m. to hear any final testimony on regulatory issues that affect real estate investments by pension funds and allow members to begin formulating their final recommendations on the issue.
The defined contribution adequacy work group will meet at 9:30 a.m. on Oct. 11 to begin formulating recommendations to the labor secretary on various policy issues surrounding retirement income adequacy.
Individuals or organizations who want to address the council should submit a written request before Oct. 1 to Sharon Morrissey, acting executive secretary, ERISA Advisory Council, U. S. Department of Labor, Room N-5677, 200 Constitution Ave., N. W., Washington, D. C., 20210. Oral presentations are limited to 10 minutes but witnesses may submit an extended statement for the record. Individuals with disabilities who need special accommodations should contact Morrissey before Oct. 1 at the above address.
Members of the public who do not want to testify may also submit 20 copies of their statement to the above address. The advisory council is a bipartisan group of 15 members appointed by the Secretary of Labor to represent a wide range of interests in the employee benefits area. The council advises and makes recommendations to the secretary of labor on the administration of ERISA.
